JulesR Attempted to run this in 1.25 at 6:30's all the way but got carried away by Guisseppe coming past in first mile. Recovered from this and let him go off into the distance never to be seen again. Twopies joined me for a while in a nice big group. Heavy rain and puddle splashes most of the way. Kept it steady at 6:30's and hit target for 36/300 or so. Well done ChrisU and Dapperdan for 2nd and 3rd V40. Well done Robert Russell for winning in 1:06 - stunning! clairevmc Absolutely pouring with rain but superbly organised race. Ran a PB so delighted with that and was 3rd female too - first time I've ever come third so that was the icing on the cake! Hamilton Harriers, Scottish Veteran Harriers 1:23:19 1:26:22 1:28:28 72.90

Ticketyboo Feeling the heat at 3 miles and did a bit of praying for rain. Apologies, if ever there was a case of being careful what you wish for, this was it. The heavens opened and stayed open for the rest of the race. Thoroughly soaked and squelchy feet due to large amount of surface water and some unavoidable deep puddles. Ran well for first 9 miles then simply ran out of steam, slowing over the last 4 miles, but still a seasons best. (Finishing position 24 out of 291). Helensburgh Half Marathon - 1st Half Marathon in 3yrs. Using it in preparation for forthcoming marathon.
Marathon plans took a slight knock as I couldn\'t even break 1.26.
Never felt comfortable apart from a brief spell between 9-11 miles when I started picking people off. Struggled over the final 2 miles. On the plus side 1st half in 3 years and on the back of a 60+ miles this week and crap weather. Still confident I can beat 1.24 at Glasgow

ian9657 Was a bit worried about the heat and sun, until the sky opened up and the monsoons appeared. Started well and controlled my pace but had to stop at 6 mile as my lace had came loose. Battled with Norman and Ewing to the finish. Shattered !!

Well done to clairevmc who was 3rd female but had disappeared b4 the prize given.

Runnersleep Splish, Splash, Splosh was the order of the day. This was my 121st Half Marathon and has got to have been the wettest. Started fine and pretty much kept it going to 10 miles when I just lost the will to push hard and just splodged to the finish. As usual the organisers Betty and Co did a great job and well done to the marshals for sticking it out in the rain. Unaffiliated 1:22:09 1:37:24 1:41:23 62.46

Ian A good swim. Very steady for first half and managed to pick up the pace for the second, which was my sole intention for the race. Bodes well for Glasgow half.

Huge thanks to the marshalls who may have dried out by now... Springburn Harriers 1:32:36 1:32:36 1:40:00 1:40:47 58.04
rleyton That was a wet one! Great turnout and great marshalling. Hadn't really set off with anything particular in mind other than to get around, so chuffed to bits to get a PB by 11 minutes. Managed a sprint finish (a first for me) too which was great fun. Excited about the Glasgow Half now! :-) UPDATE: Official time 4 seconds better than my watch time too! Why can't that happen when I'm bang on the minute! Bellahouston Road Runners 1:36:46 1:36:46 1:41:23 57.50
larrry Happy to get under 2 hours again on such a wet day .Didnt like the bit through housing schemes . With such a nice coast road and prom i am sure more use of these could of been made ! What are these drivers about who seem to take pleasure out of soaking runners at puddles and hooting as they pass ! Despite the many signs to warn them of a road race ! Are they jealous ?
