Bad organisation (on my part I mean) meant I had to have a loo stop at 7k so no chance of a PB this year. Much more training needed! Oh, well, I say that every year.
£30!!!!! Oh and good luck Calliope!:-)**UPDATE** Well what a great day!! Started well meeting Homer and his family before the race, then Pato1969 in the pens. Made the decision with H to start near the front which meant forgoing a proper warm-up, but that is the only way to avoid the walkers! The official time is some way out from my Garmin time which was the same with Homer too even though we finished quite close together(I put this down to H not stopping his on the line 'cos of his sneaky effort to pass me virtually on the line!! ;-)).
Tried to stay with Pat but he was just too quick and he dropped me at about 3.5k then jolguk passed me at 6k going well! I had a plan to push as hard as I could at the 8k mark and tried only to feel my hamstring cramp! So from there it was a case of just getting to the line! I picked up my cadence and shortend my stride which seem to help.
Good run today. Not great but good. Can't be dissapointed.
Official Time - enjoyed this as usual, didn't think the congestion was too bad. Good to see Obigone and Homer at the start as chatting helped fill the 45mins while we waited around.
Registered and paid...Would love to finish in under an Hour. Having a halt on training due to knee injury has hindered things a bit, but I remain optimistic. Good luck all, hope some of you are wearing your fetch vests. It would be nice to put a few faces to names. Me, I'll be in my club colors for the first time, gulp, hope I don't let them down.
UPDATE*** What a fantastic day. Not as fast as I would have liked, but did not know what to expect, and weaving in and out without hurting anyone is an art form in itself. Next year I will be better at it, lol.
Congrats to all runners.
There's no way it's worth the £30, and the T-shirts are always rubbish. But there's always a great atmosphere, and we always have some sort of a gathering at a pub or someone's house afterwards. Quite flat, too.
Update - Ha Ha! Pat, you beat me by just a second - shame we weren't running together or we could have raced it to even more off my PB - 40 seconds or so, as it was. I'm extremely glad to say that the people who bet on me will have a return today for once....... God, I'm happy. My husband - 40:50, despite clubbing on Friday and zero traning, so unfair... thanks, Jennywren for the number - not wanting to be too early at the start meant I had no chance of finding the rest of you then, and so the congestion was quite bad for us early on, but I knew I felt pretty good. When I saw Homer ahead of me at 3k I sprinted to catch him and my shoe laces promptly came apart and I had to stop. I made it up, though, and I was especially aware that things were going well when I did my 3rd fastest 5k ever, and got a 5 mile PB by 40 seconds. I was sick just over the finishing line as usual, and it was great to catch up with Homer and Obigone again at the end. Just staggeringly good. Now off for a celebratory barbie.
Cracking race and a PB! Set off too fast as was too concerned about dodging people to think about pace, and paid for it later, slowed in the last few km but very very chuffed.
Swimming Is Easier
great day -- the waves worked really well. I was in orange and everyone was running a good pace. Ran with a friend Ruth and stupidly started off at a quicker pace than she did even tho she's a much better runner. Paid for it at the end. Still pleased with my time though. Only complaint was the water - I couldn't undo the top, run, and drink at the same time......
I agree over priced, but supposed to be a great atmosphere. Any comments on the course.

It was quite warm on the day. Felt ok and didnt stop running although between 6 and 7K I really wanted to!
My second 10km and a beautifully flat one! Brilliant atmosphere today, the sun was a bit of a pain sometimes but lovely cool winds helped, & I especially liked that shower bit at 6.5km. Crowds were great and very friendly runners, and also set a new P.B., so no complaints from me :o)
got near the front again, but still bit of congestion for the first k, then got into my stride. Great atmosphere as usual.Pleased with time , but will have to do again next year, as still not quite under the 40min barrier for this race.
not bad as i have not ran in ages due to ear infection! usual weaving to get around the walkers but good atmosphere!
Kung Fu Grip
Back bad had to walk a lot.
Dont know about anyone else but I must have spent 7k looking for gaps to overtake plebs who decided to walk after 5 minutes. The race has got too big and wont be getting my money next year.
Great race, Think the legs are still reciverng from London Marathon!
apart from the wind banging me around its a great pb course but very expensive
Very busy start, my legs started to give in after 6K, but kept pace albeit not what I had hoped for.
Very warm this year and very congested, could not get into a good stride until after 6K, by that time I was to far down from my estimated time, there's always next year.
Last minute entry. May end up running with the girls from work, So def no PB here.
Horrendous!!! Mental note to self - nerver do proper run again without training!
Crowded, not good for pb running, but good course
no training, just a lot of reading about pain and the illusion of fatigue
Injury in the preparation for this run meant was not going to get near target or PB, but respectable time in the end staying under 50mins.
first ever outdoor run!!
Ill. I shouldn't have run.
tore hamstring at 7 k
