Since I'd PB'd at the Royal Parks 2 weeks ago, wasn't expecting to run this at all fast as it was a much tougher course.
However, really enjoyed the event, and despite a slow first hald (all thouse f***ing flyovers and underpasses tested my spirit!) found the secon half quite easy, so was a massive neagative split (something like 1.07/1.03) thinks i could have done a PB if I'd really pushed it, but happy with this time as thaat wasn't my attention starting out. next challenge will be to get to 2.05 for the half ahead of my first marathon!
Raptors Claws are Coming to Town
Not racing - toddling round with my daughter, who won't have built up to the distance by then.
What a great race! Today I ran with Barking, who notched up an impressive PB, but I'll be back for a PB attempt of my own next year. Today I'm proud to be a Brummie :o)
NO POINT BETTING AS THERE IS NO WAY I WILL GET A PB!!
I really can't see a PB but it won't be a PW either I hope - but not far off at the rate things are going!
A good race, a bit too undulating for me. Ran a good time so can't complain very happy with it.
Just a shame about the late start
Birmingham half marathon
A personal worst but had fun anyway!!
Undulating!!! Up hill more like
missed my pb by 30seconds I think - wasn't a good run for me, felt exhausted for most of it although not sure how much of that was mental as I was in a horrid mood and it didnt help!! oh well cant always pb
Week after Godiva half, but couldn't resist signing up to a run on my doorstep. Really good race, look forward to running next year. Little slow at the start, but picked up quickly. Loved the crowds, live bands and massive medal!
THANKYOU Pix and V-rap!!!
Threw up in my mouth after 5 miles, really shouldn't have had those Tetley's extra smooth and B&H silver the night before!
Pacing Mr MF round for first HM
And I thought I liked hills!
I didn't have the best preparation for this race having done the cross-country the day before and then had a big night out so I was very pleased my run today. Thought it was well organised for a first attempt (will definitely be back next year). I know it was urban and undulating but I really enjoyed the route - maybe because it made a change to be racing a course I recognised.
That's my garmin time ratherthan the time on the website as it took 8 mins to cross the line.
Can't fault the race, just the way I ran it. Be back next year
This was OK. Just OK really. Horrible traffic to and from. Very urban down the A34 through the badlands of N. Bham. Then round the hilliest streets of Edgbaston up and down all the hills and out on the Hagley Road, turnaround and come back down finish on Broad Street. Felt pretty strong and did a reasonable pace. If flat would have cranked out a PB. Probably do next year but not def.
I think I've run no more than 70-80 miles tops since end of June, including JW Relay leg. My spinning classes got me through this but I don't think I've worked so hard before, esp from halfway. What's 12 secs between friends anyway?
Birmingham Half Marathon - run with Homer
Stunning - really enjoyed this. It's a pleasantly undulating course with a really nice fast finish.
Running in company was simply the best. As I wasn't really sure how I was going to run this. So I HAD a goal!
Very pleased with the way I ran post Snowdonia
ran this with friend and just took it easy and enjoyed the day. was a decent event, only probs were the shuttle bus from city centre to start ..took forever and walked the last mile. route was harder than expected and no water at the last station! apart from that good race.
bad race, blood blisters on blister on blister, and cramped up calf so hopped around the last 4miles

See my blog for race report
Good race. Lots of comments about Birmingham City Councils inability to run a bath at the start but I thought it ran very well for the first time round.
Perhaps not the smartest move: 1 week before New York Marathon...I PROMISE I will rest for the rest of the week... Surely I'll be flying though
Ran it at marathon pace (7:36) as planned.
sleepless night with all that rain stayed clear for the run though undulating is a good word for this run not very scenic or pretty but not badly organized and a new PB
Week after Godiva half but it would be rude not to do this one on our doorstep - Was very pleased with this time as I had knocked 4 mins of my pb last week at Cov half. Badly organised start but excellent organisation at the finish - very good crowd support not the prettiest of routes but challenging with most of the hills in the first 6 miles. The medal and tee shirt real quality but would have prefered a banana or chocolate instead of a box of special K??? (where were cadburys?) I would do this again
hoping to go for a PB in this one! If i can get all the training in!!
Turbo doesnt count
Indeed it was a pb, even with a toilet stop at mile 2! More than happy with that, could I go quicker? Probably, we'll see next year...
undulating my ar&e!!!! But v. happy with time considering the nature of the course
Running with my brother on this one.
1st run back after a twisted ancle
This is my first Half Marathon, I would love to finish in under 2 hours!
Update.... near enought! well pleased with todays run, loved it!
Excellent big city race in Birmingham at long last. A few delayed problems at the start but overall i have to say for a first time it was well organised. Course was a little hilly and windy at times with sporadic start. Terrific finish down Broad Street once my legs carried me that is. Top quality medal and goodie bag at the finish added to the big feel of this race. Roll on next year. Came in position 913 out of 6932 finishers.
The best - birmingham i love you!
I would have been slightly faster but i stopped to give a Big Issue Seller £2 just off Colmore Row. I then had to explain to him that i did not actually want a copy of the Big Issue as i was running. I would have thought the fact that i was wearing my running gear and had a big number on my front should have made it obvious but hey, he's probably homeless for a reason.....
Felt ok after the first loo break. Took it easy and felt fine at the end (20 weeks pregnant)
Good race - ran to plan, wish I pushed it a litle more between miles 10 and 11 on the Hagley Road straight.
Harder than I thought nut a great day!
Not a bad first attempt.. More shoter sharper training runs are required...
Stopped for 2 wees
Was on for a PB according to my Garmin but the course measured long. Shame.
No Garmin didn't really know what I was doing
