Greaat conditions and really happy with that time!
second time for me did it faster than last year but not as fast as i wanted
Had a great run in 2004, looking for even better in 2005, and hopefully another following wind for the last 2 miles!
Very disappointed with my 2005 run...was hoping to beat last year and even get under 70 mins. Just ran out of steam in mile8 whilst still on track for 70, then could not get it back together. Not sure hwy...all training had gone well, well hydrated, plenty of fuel beforehand, just ran out of puff!!
Apart from that, it was a good event, well organised, great facilities etc...
Only compaint would be all the slower runners who get up the front and then set off at a snails pace, causing everyone else to have to run around them...I thin I covered about 1.5miles in he first mile, with all the dodging and zigzagging!!!
Year 3 at this and planning to train specifically for the race. A two minute improvement seems realistic. I knew last year I could go faster but spent the first 2 miles swerving the traffic.
BOLLOX I HAVE A COLD :¬( still gonna go for it
******** UPDATE **********
oh my god OH MY GOD
I am stunned, my resting HR was high my BP was high I got the worst reading on my peak flow meter for a year
Still had to swerve traffic in first 2 miles
32:45 for first 5 miles
31:21 for last 5 miles(a PB for 5 miles)
5:51 for the last mile
Very congested start, but had a good race overall, pace felt great until 7-miles, when my legs began to tire. managed to hold on and work hard over the last few miles to record a seasons best time.
Didn't train for a couple of weeks before the race because I had pulled my calf muscle during my longest training run (7 miles) so was fully expecting it too stiffen up during the race but it didn't and it now feels fine!!
Great race, faster than i expected so i was happy. What brilliant organisation and fab goodie bag with my best medal in it.
Had been suffering from tonsilitis all week, and then got a cold on top of it at the end of the week. Was forced to take a week off training before the race and really, really suffered from because of this during the race.
new pb i feel sub 80 is there got through 10k in49:27 but i dont think that counts as a pb .... 6 mins quicker than last year yes spent the weekend on the isle of wight which helped
Went off a bit too fast, and suffered for the last 5 miles. Didn't slow too much though and still got a PB
St. Pauli Girl
A really enjoyable race - the weather was just right (though I wish that I'd not worn long sleves). Managed to do better than I had planned.
Also caught up with RacheE at around the 8 mile mark.
Fantastic race, my all time favourite, great day and 15 mins off my PB means I go to bed a very happy bunny tonight!
Wanted to break 70mins so very pleased with my time.Great atmosphere.Well run wozzlehunter who wanted to break 70mins and finished way ahead of me.Congrats to all the runners who took part.
what a good race.
they even got the weather right.
pleased with my pb
full report when i have the energy... but I didn't have a great race, but i did have a fantastic experience... it very scary but amazing being on the elite start!
new pb for me and finished in 25th place... so not bad!
I really enjoyed this race, mostly because I ran around with a friend who had never done 10 miles before. It meant that I was there as Mr Motivator and ran at a much slower pace than I would do normally. It gave me a chance to realise how much my fitness has come along and running at about 10 minute mile pace felt very easy which is encouraging. The course itself was quite flat and I guess the only regret is that if I had really pushed myself, I could well have set a PB.
Getting there after injury... Just missed out on the hour!
Another beautiful day. Mrs b(p) and x 2 children and Collins family came down to Pompey. Adopted by man at start who ran with me/encouraged me 'round. We ran a 6 min mile at one stage!!! Walked for about 400m at mile 9 and then ran in. Fantastic
An old favorite.
A personal best!
Went off far too fast, and was still feeling tired from the GNR 3 weeks earlier, also no training between the two.
