Ultra Sparkly Bridget (USB)
First time over this distance so definitely a PB. Hope to repeat my pace from Stamford especially as I think this has less hills UPDATE Did I really manage to run that fast and for so long?!
Had planned to run 8 min miles but set off too fast as usual and ended up doing 9 min miles for the last few difficult miles. Great race though - v much enjoyed it.
Targetted 2:30 so pretty happy with how it went although it was hard work! Also went through halfway in 1:15:07 so with a second half of 1:13:49 it was a negative split.
Impossible is Nothing
Not too bad - didn't quite run it as planned: first 7 miles were meant to be slower and the last 2 miles weren't meant to hurt so much! Fairly pleased with effort over last 13 miles (mile 11 marker in wrong place) around 6:40ish but didn't drink/eat very well I think. Nice race, not altogether flat but well marshalled. Result: 71 out of 531
On for 2:50:00 at 16 when cramp hit both legs.
So what went wrong - I have no idea? Just didn't have it on the day. Apologies to those who bet. Reasonable first half, on target for a slim PB, then just had nothing and struggled.
Disappointed too that my Chip Time shows exactly the same as my Gun Time, can't explain that as I certainly didn't start right at the front lol. So am sticking with my Garmin time which I started as I crossed the mat.
Happy with this as a training run. Out in 74.41 and back in 69.30. Felt comfortable most of the way. Started way back and also stopped for a couple of wee's as didn't get up early enough. Know that I could have dipped under 2.20 but not the intention till nearer Edinburgh. A pleasing run!
Matt the Brum
Target was to break 2hrs on tired legs. Pleased with time, went through 10 in 58mins so held an even pace. Very tired over last 3miles but kept it going. Finished 2nd/531 in 1:56:30.
