POST RACE - Pheweeee! that was a tough run. A very good race though and on any other days it is a fairly quick course.

Sorry to those who bet on me but i did try very hard for you and myself. Dunstable RRC 3:29:33 3:40:09 3:39:47 4:02:40 50.37

andyb That was really hot. My first Marathon in that heat. I am so happy to get round. Undulating course with excellent support from the marshalls and general public. Thanks to all. Ely Runners 3:29:30 4:48:41 4:29:00 4:48:41 43.43

Blazer I can but hope.... Close to FLM but I really want to try and break the magic 4.

Too darn hot for anything, let alone running!!!!

Great event really well run and a real test in the heat. Got to halfway of schedule then blew up lol Unaffiliated 3:38:40 4:14:03 3:59:59 4:43:48 43.22
BlueWombat Golly gosh, that was hot. I was moving along at 8m/m pace or better for the first 10 miles but then I melted. I was actually planning to drop out at the end of the first loop, but somehow ended up going around a second time, but with lots of run/walk to try and keep relaxed and in control. In the end this was no more than my last long run before Edinburgh, which I am hoping will be cooler. Cambridge & Coleridge AC, Cambridge University Hare & Hounds 3:28:13 3:28:13 4:20:26 50.13

dockers Well, I finished, bit disappointed that I had to walk, 1st time !!!, but managed to get to 22 before a little walk. But it was very hot and uncomfortable, and my leg were still full of Bungay and Cambridge so overall not a bad outcome. Well supported and friendly race. Duncs Too hot for me, went out OK and stuck to 8m/m for first 8 miles but then the heat got to me, along with some stomach pains. 100 Marathon Club, Highland Hill Runners 3:23:46 3:23:46 3:30:00 4:00:42 51.73
EarlyRiser Looks like it's going to be warm. I'm relaxed about this race. I finished badly in Rome two months back, whether the same will happen here or not I just don't know. Still a novice at this distance. POST-Race. What a scorcher of a day! No PB. Nothing like it. But it was the same for everybody. First half on pace, 8 minute miles; but then 9 minute miles, then 10, then 11! Good atmosphere, very well organised, scenic route. Enjoyed it very much. Afterwards! :-) Unaffiliated 3:42:45 3:42:45 3:30:00 3:56:11 57.19

everready Boy oh boy that was hot, I'll be honest I was disappointed with the result I so wanted to get close or under 4 hours, but in that heat I was exhausted at 16 miles. I had to walk run to the finish to get a time of 4hours 49 minutes. the marshals were great the spectators great, and i would like to thank the running coach (I don't know what club you were from) who gave me an ice cold bottle of water from his 'team coller box' it got me through the next three miles. The Kipster Nice friendly run with great scenery and some good support. Terrific organisation, thank you for all those drink stations!!! I struggley at 23-24 and had a little walk but found enough to finish decently - suffered from the sun - had to stop the car and get rid o them jelly babies on the way back - just about made it! Teach me to be so greedy!!!! Great run would do it again but let's have it cooler next tme please! March AC 3:05:06 3:39:27 3:39:27 59.00
Ultra Kanga Kazzaaaaah!! Well how did it go. Ignoring the weather and the lack of training it was bloody amazing! I was happily trucking along at 4.30ish pace till around 8 miles but altho' I was relatively comfy at that pace I knew there was no way I could keep it up so I had the choice - keep it up as long as I could then hit the wall and have that awful last 10k or so when all you want to do is die or slow it right down and just enjoy myself. For once the head overruled the heart and I took it right down to walk a bit/run a bit, enjoy the scenery, make the most of the hospitality of the lovely people with their hosepipes, have a chat with the marshalls and generally smell the roses (well ok not roses but all the other assorted wildflowers that abounded)! Finished in 5.19.59 so over an hour off pb and my slowest road marathon by about 30 mins but I finished strong and raring to keep going and, more importantly, can walk without looking like a cripple!!

I'd have liked to go sub-5 or even sub-5.15 but, you know, I don't really care.

And now, having driven round half of Essex (overstatement but that's how it felt!), I'm now downing the shandy that I've been dreaming about since the second time I ran passed the lovely pub in Pebmarsh!! 100 Marathon Club 4:06:30 4:24:22 5:19:59 44.15
