Man that hurt! Bad knee and shouldn;t have run it but I wanted the medal and banana so I did. Knee held out for 3 miles, started to hurt after 5 and was almost unbearable from mile 11. Pleased with the time though as I had to walk for some of it and wasn't expecting to get round, never mind finish. I saw a Llama as well.
May be on for a pb for this one but will report back nearer the time. It all depends on how marathon training goes.
Found the hills ok (although Hemel is hilly so used to training on them) apart from the incline at Mile 11. It totally wiped me out and ended up walking for a couple of minutes. Managed to get in under my target 2hrs 15 mins at 2:08:46 but this was my watch time. I started near the back so clock said 2:10:00 when I finished. Bananas at the end were welcome.
Very tough race esp the first hill at 2-3 miles! Really pleased with my time considering the number of hills. Clock time 1hour 45min 56secs, watch time closer to 1.45.20secs
reasonably pleased considering lack of running over last month- tried to go at 7 min pace but couldn't keep it going after 7/8 miles- tough hills
my best distance run. gutted to see the big clock go past 1:30 one meter from the line. My watch time was 1:29:59.15 which is a bit to close to call it a sub 1:30 run.Think OT will be 01/02, but was more disorganised this year. Still was 2 min PB and 4.17 mins up on course. Had a massive drop in "power" between 7-8, going from 6.09 to 7.31! took me 3 miles to regain control. 11 to 12 was hard, but last mile down hill in 6.09 again. Did this on low fuel ie no gels etc. the dinner party and booze the night before didn't help either. great running by other Watford Joggers too - am proud of all of them!!
undulating course. felt good tho
Tough and hilly.
Did not enter decide last minute to pull out as i needed to clock up mileage for London
Ooooh bloody hills!
Three hills were a kille, but jolly glad I did it
