\J\ My first road race, wasn't confident I'd finish the race as calf was still giving me problems during warm up.. anyway I did finish it, there was snow, it was cold, and there was a biting cold head wind... but I finished beit 2.30 mins slower than last year... calf held out though it was sore at end.. Barry K I've done this race twice now. Hoping to get back under 50 minutes this time. In theory that shouldn't be a problem.

It very nearly was a problem due to the lovely wind coming along the sea front. Unaffiliated 44:10 49:41 47:00 49:48 53.01

Heelandcoo Is it possible to beat the 48 min standard I set last year? I haven't been thinking about speed lately just long runs for the marathon so not expecting a fast time. My other half's birthday the night before too so another reason why I am not expecting a fast time!
*update* PB i think but not sure of my official time! Not as cold as it could have been. Enjoyed it but maybe more so if I hadn't stayed up so late last night! Good to see other Fetchies too! Claremont Road Runners 42:33 46:30 48:30 46:30 63.91
jazz Just going to take it steady as hip still abit sore. After - Tried to start slower than normal and did feel more comfortable than normal but struggled with the wind especially in the last mile. About 30 secs down on last years time but felt better so will be interesting to see where have come in results compared to last year as dont remember wind to be quite as bad last year Tynedale Harriers & AC 38:49 41:59 42:51 70.11

Lisrun I enjoy this race, it goes along the Tyne and then turns north along the promenade. This will be my fourth time. *Update* Weather much better than forecast yesterday, but still quite a bit of wind from the north as we ran up the coast. Good to meet lots of Fetchies. Pleased with time. More in blog 100 Marathon Club, North East Marathon Club 45:35 46:54 49:00 46:54 66.73
makem 1 no pb for me this day, running into a wall of wind for the last couple of miles stopped any hopes of that, but still felt comfortable , but was a great atmosphere and well organised and well marshelled coarse. would def do it again, but still trying to beat that pb of 41.41 but my goal is still on for sub 40 in 2008 sunderland harriers 37:44 41:12 45:00 44:07 61.27
mittuck Been training for about six weeks for this race, a weekend away has slightly slowed my plans but I did a 10k run in 41:52 three weeks ago in wind and I'm aiming for sub fourty, hopefully sub 38.

Found the race tough, haven't been able to train for 7-8days with a throat infection prior to the race. Gutted about my time but considering how tough I found the first 2miles I'm glad to have finished in a PB.

Gonna enter a race next month to prove to myself that I can break the 40minute barrier! Unaffiliated 41:50 41:50 38:00 41:50 63.11

slug001 pleased with the overall result, could have been better without the wind for the last 2 miles Unaffiliated 39:26 39:26 41:14 66.97
Vicki: Graceless Whippet Really enjoyed this one again - the wind was pretty much the same as last year, and got worse at the 5mile mark. I was on for a pb until I hit the last mile, but I wasn't really expecting one so I'm not disappointed. Nice scenic course and a fantastic goody bag as per the previous years races *big thumbs up*

I'll be looking for a pb at the Sanddancer 10k (in a fortnight) or the Clive Cookson 10k on 21st May Jarrow & Hebburn AC 43:52 43:52 45:00 45:10 67.01
