Dead Man Crawling
Brilliant run on the shoulders of giants! (Mo Farah and the Red Arrows). Great Geordie hospitality, brilliant beer tent at finish with the best gig of the year.
Great day out but I crashed and burned and overheated from about 7-8 miles. Not my best.
PB 1632nd Splits - 5K - 22:05 10K - 45:02
15K - 1:07:58
What an experience, this was something else. Running with that many folk was great, the atmosphere was great, the weather was great. Tougher than expected and yes I didnt get a PB but with potential achilles tendinitis (diagnosed by my doctor father) and a niggle in my knee i always had to take it easy-ish. So i decided to run and soak it all up and it was by far the greatest race i have ran in terms of buzz. The crowds were magnificent all the way round, the last mile was brilliant, s much noise and the crowd was huge. I think I will be doing it again, 2016 here I come. Im sold on the great north run.
Lovely day. So many people!
If you are given the wrong pen, as it happened to me, nae chance of a PB!
Hot and hard!!
What can I say apart from well chuffed with the whole weekend. Really pleased to go under 1hr 29, really proud of Mrs Chin for completing another challenge in very warm conditions and now really pleased to be back home. Its a great weekend but boy oh boy its a long way to go for a trot lol. Kept a good pace throughout and felt pretty strong through all the inclines. Now got 5 days to recover before we walk/run the 26mile Birmingham Canal Canter this coming Saturday.
A great day out. Really crowded during the run, but the crowds were fantastic. Bit of a problem getting out of South Shields but the metro queues moved quickly. It is a race that I will return to. Well done to the stewards and volunteers on the day. If you are looking for a decent challenge, this is the run for you! Very hot this year.
A very enjoyable race especially for first time or fun runners. I like to take it easy when running and don't want to worry about finishing times so very much appreciate the great masses of crowd support at these events.
My 5th GNR - and it was most certainly the hottest one yet but , again, a big shout out to the thousands of speccys that lined the route offering encouragement and various goodies to help us as we went on our way. Happy with my time despite being injured for July
Io was my first time doing the gnr and I can say from some of the comments that were made I have a reason to be annoyed as it seemed there were a lot more people crammed in to the early white pens and people brought forward from green and pink so people could run together!! Then ended up walking in the first half mile! I struggled to get a good pace and some people refused to step to one side while walking bug on a good note I loved the race lay out and the atmosphere was brilliant but wanted a better time
Started at PB pace, quickly realised that wasn't happening and then a sub 1.30 also slipped by. Overheated early on but recovered ok in the end.
Fastest half in almost 2 years (10 races).
Splits: 5k 20.29 / 4.06 avg. 10k 42.34 (22.05 / 4.25 avg. - slowed a bit) 15k 1.04.46 (22.11 / 4.26 avg. - steadied) 21.1k 1.31.25 (26.39 / 4.22 avg. - similar)
Shokcing race - felt awful from almost the off! Also way too hot for me - I never run well in the heat. Still, onwards and upwards to the next race!
Last minute RAFA place. Even more congested than last time! Ran with Rhona's number
