Bit of a Maverick Top Gun experience - didn't engage with the main pack on Leg 1, almost seemed to be jogging for the first couple of miles. Bit better in the second half and time was about the same as last year, but should have gone out harder and been prepared to suffer. Talking of suffering...cross country starts next week!
not a bad race.hope to do better next time

Forgot how hard this wee course was...first 2 miles lulls you into a nice sense of easy running then the hills appear!!! Arrived at race 10 mins from the start and was doing first leg..not perfect!! Took off and legs just were not ready for that sort of short fast effort....was hoping for sub 17:30 but was content with the time achieved. First vets team also so nice trophy and voucher for the effort. ;-)
Don't feel this was a great race, went out last and was totally isolated. Picked off 2 bodies immediately in front, but too far back to threaten anyone else. Team finished 12th, and as we were without a couple of our best runners, that was ok. This is the kind of distance I need to do more of, and may target some track races next year.
Very mixed emotions about this race. First race since Cumbrie at beginning of September as I've been injured so fastest I have ran recently is 7mph. Time was similar to last year which is good but obviously i've lost stamina as felt I was working fairly hard. However this is the best i've felt after a race in months.
Ran the 3rd leg for the B team.
