Dochart AS 3m/800'. Race HQ at the White Hart in Cross, just off the A38 south of Bristol. No facilities, but 4 real ales so the organisers priorities are quite right. Race numbers were written on the back of runners hands with a magic marker, and we were told to yell this out to the timekeepers as we crossed the finishing line. The start is a mile or so up the road from HQ and the relaxed atmosphere extended to the starting time - just as well as I and quite a few other runners were still making our way there after the official start time. The route heads up Crook Peak away from the steepest slopes, turns east along Wavering Down and then heads down and south to finish above HQ. This was my first cat A race and I expected the ground to be steeper and possibly held back more than I could have done on the ups. The downhills were better - maybe I'm not too bad at the 'brain off' bit. Stragglers 23:48 26:54 26:54 50.36
