This will really be a LSR for me as I have had so many injuries my training has been zilch. Might have to drop out at 10 miles when we pass the start/finish area - but knowing me I will carry on anyway. Never been known not to finish yet.
i have used my chip time which includes my stopping to re-tie my shoe lace, i like my garmin time more 2.00.26
woops to the peeps who placed bets.
blooming good race totally pooped know but in such a good way
What a great run! Set off at a reasonable speed but felt early on that I could maintain it. The only time I struggled slightly was on the hilly parts at 9 miles and 11 miles but I had a strong final mile and did a PB by almost 6 minutes
My first half. Don't really know how it will go at all. Basing prediction on my 10 mile time and the theory that I should be able to do an extra 3 miles on top without too much trouble. Need to work quite a lot on endurance before this though I think. UPDATE: went really well. Very pleased with that. Good race.
All the FLM training seems to be working, I got three PB's in one race, I went through 10k at 41 mins, 10miles at 67 mins and finished 13.1miles in 88.07!! Thats a huge stonking PB.... a great day and brilliant conditions, and hills weren't that bad at least they were short!
It felt longer than 13 miles
A mare of a race for me, but a great day out in Brighton. Started according to plan but lost it in the 6th and 7th kilometres, I don't know what happened. My blog as the details. By far my slowest Sussex Beacons ever.
Hoping for 2:15 - my first half - but we'll see how the training goes. Edit - have revised prediction downwards as I lost 4 weeks training over Christmas / New Year due to nightmare virus from hell. But it's my first HM so bound to be a PB
First step on the build up to Blackheath on 13th April. Lovely day and Brighton looked fairly inviting (the West Pier could do with a bit of attention, though). As usual, there was the odd surreal moment and the prize for the best goes to the bloke in Hove giving jelly babies out from the boot of his car whilst playing Status Quo at full volume. (I didn't dream that did I?) By the way, did someone steal all the mile markers between 3 and 9 inclusive?
Barring disaster I should hit this time. My PB was in Bedford on a hilly course with freezing rain. - Update. marginal PB but overall very disappointed with time, big mistake in running to Garmin distances which measured it at 13.28. didn't have a 2nd gear
Working back to race fitness, quite pleased but would have liked to dipunder 2 hours, long way to go to get back to best
Not going to be a pb I feel - too soon into marathon training after a lay-off due to bugs 'n' things.
1st half mara for many years, last one was 2hrs40 but do a lot more running these days so who knows
Almost missed the start as I thought it was 11am rather than 9;45. Sorry anyone who bet on the hills of Brighton and the lack of taper took their tole on me . . .
A better time than i could ever have imagined!!! PB'd by almost 11 mins!!!!!!
What a glorious race. gorgeous day, brilliantly organised, lovely course. wonderful.
beat last years time by 5 minutes!
GREAT RACE BUT LEFT LEG TENDONS HURT LIKE HELL FROM 8M REALLY SORRY TO ALL WHO BETTED ON ME - BUT WATCH FOR KATHIE SHE IS RUNNING A STORM
i did 1hr 58min two years ago,if it all goes well i will be near,
I ran this in 2006 when it was very wet all day and there was a long haul down the muddy clifftop from Rottingdean. This race was in beautiful weather after a cold start and the new all-asphalt course is probably better: all the same, the switchback sections are a bit dispiriting and on the steep descent from the cliffs you could have played 'Silent Night' on my calfstrings. Finishing time was a few seconds slower than my time in 2006, so at least I'm not degenerating as quickly as I feel I am.
Achieved my pb here last year. Hoping to go a bit better this year, somewhere between 1:45 & 1:50
Not quite the 1:50 I hoped for but a pb nonetheless.
very good run, started a lot faster than expected and managed to keep the pace. Quite windy for half of the way but manage to work with other runners to minimise the impact.
Destroyed my PB by more than 8 minutes and more than 4 minutes faster than my prediction.
Last year's race was horrible, v. gusty and wasn't fully prepared... this year I think I might be.
UPDATE: Best half performance to date, perfect conditions, still enough left for a good sprint finish and a PB to boot!
First attempt at anything over 10K. Felt very good over opening miles so I kept the pace going. Very straihtforward until 9 miles when the course required a few climbs but was able to keep going. Had enough for a fast finish too - very satisfied with my time.
Perfect to mile 11, then unexpected hill! Was very worried about temperature but chosen clothing was OK. Saw only one Fetchie!
First run - Feezing cold but not a cloud in the sky. Didn't need sleeved top
Very flat except for some steep slopes in the last couple of miles towards the marina which is where I think I damaged my "middle toe" slowing myself down a slope with toes pressed up against front of shoe.
Confident of running faster on this course next time.
1 of 9 striders to pb today!!!!
Started a little too fast and slowed a little a few miles in, ran with suz till mile 10/11 then pushed for the finish.
Sprinted like a mad man right at the end.
