This event is listed on these dates:
Hopefully a first outing in the Sonic suit. A week after Steyning so DON'T BET.
This time, more than any other time, this time !! **update** Bugger!
Started off at 9 mins per mile which was good for me. Ran nearly all the way and felt absolutely fab! Better time (and weather) than last year. Not too stiff today. Can't wait till Edinburgh Marathon!
My Current PB course so should go faster after a whole years extra running. Update: Shins hurt see blog for ful report.
I will be pacing the race for RW at 9 min*mile. Let me know if you are interested and have any questions!
#4246 Practice race at FLM pace.
this was my first half marathon
feeling ok did think my legs would have hurt a lot more but i am have more problems with the soles of my feet
a bit dissappointed with my time and not sure if it is correct as i can't find my offical time
Would love a new pb here. I enjoy this race and will definitely be making a pb attempt here even with FLM 4 weeks away. Club 2 star standard is 2:14, which seems a realistic target to go for without being greedy
***UPDATE**** 18 measly seconds off that club standard! Still happy that I ran that distance faster than ever and still got aPB without being greedy!
What a well run event! Flat as a pancake, a little exposed to the windy conditions. Had a good start and kept a steady pace for first 7 miles (6:07), started to feel it at around 10-12 miles pushed thru but not hard enough to make it under 1:22 next time eh. Thanks to organisers.
I like this course a lot, previous two ocassions here have been PB's at that time, so confidence is high on this course.
2nd half marathon. Looking for a PB, ideally something close to 2hrs but anything could happen. **update** Not only a PB, but sub 2hrs. Couldn't be happier. Big thanks to Seagrave for pacing, looking forward to seeing the photos from the finish line. Thanks to everyone who bet, turns out you're sane!
Just aiming to feel less bad than the last one I did! If I also manage to beat my time then great.
Ran this last year as part of my FLM build up. I am an F1 fan, so nothing compared with stepping on to the grid for warm up - wow! in 207 we had rain and hail - twice - so I am hoping for better weather next year.
Challenge vs Kstuart. Who can topple their PB by the most. Will be well up for this.
Well after having to walk most of the second half of the race last year cause of cramp and the weather. I am looking to have a better race this Sunday and knock 30mins off my time.
My first half. Fetch is currently predicting anywhere between 2:15-2:30 for the distance. More than a month out of training in Dec due to illness so will be happy just to get round at the moment. Someone's got to be last after all!
I hope to get a new PB as this is my first running year and I expect to improve my PBs each time! I know this will stop one day though!
I am very pleased with this new PB. It has been hard work as I have not been training for 2 weeks due to injury (ITBS - that was 3/4 weeks ago). As a result, I am behind in my preparation for the London Marathon, with a single proper long run (30 km) that was last Sunday.
Not looking to PB on this course as haven't really got the training in plus will be just back off holiday. Just looking to enjoy it and beat last years time of 2.20.
Slowly But Shirley
Yippee! A PB, despite knackered legs! Great atmosphere and very lucky with the weather. Those conditions really kept me going ... though the last mile seemed endless!!
Pretty pleased with my run which was a PB! Been suffering with quite bad injury over past few weeks which held up well. 7mm pace for first 10miles then suffered in last 3 miles.
Never run this half before, I hope its as flat as they say, As long as the reading half has not taken to much out of me I hope to do 1 hr 46 mins
Don't bet on this one, dodgy calf after Reading half last week.............
Only my second 'half' but reckon I could post sub 1:50. Bollocks, I had mental sag at mile 8 and didn't have the speed to post sub 1:50. I finished strong and still beat my previous Silverstone PB of 1:52:21 set in 2007. Oh well always next time.
Not quite back to fitness I was for GER in October so just going to enjoy running with such a large crowd of people. Post - race - did a cracking first 5 miles but from about 8-9 miles IT band giving me jip! Still I did the time I hoped to based on my training runs.
As long as I get a sub-2 hours, I'll be happy!
Oh dear - I had a private challenge with Watford Wobble that if i got a PB at Silverstone, I would enter Stratford marathon as well as FLM. Wish I'd run a bit slower now!
managed 1hr 58 last year so going to beat it, even tho it snowed, hailed, rained, was bloody cold and even the sun came out, but what fun I beat Nigel Mansell around silverstone, wonder if I'll ever get tired of saying that?
race morning, 12st 91/2, bit heavier than I wanted, p=60 spo2=97. a PB yes, oh yes
this year it was just cold and windy but great fun, abit hilly but great fun.
Probably a mistake, in retrospect. I was attempting 7:40 or so pace and managed that up to mile 9 when I had to stop, go to the loo, and have a breather. Chesty cough was causing problems, not breathing freely, and legs still feeling last Sunday's 50k race I guess. So a PB was not in the offing today
First nine miles fine, close to 8 minute miles. Then R/H calf starting tightening but more worrying had pins and needles followed by numbness in both hands around 12 mile mark, must keep an eye on this.
Happy with time for first 1/2 marathon. Bit windy and very open and not 'flat' but undulating!
Target for next half is to beat 1:45:00.
Paced Dowse round...

SILVERSTONE HALF MARATHON (Chip - 1:41.09 / Watch - 1:41.09) (762nd of 4801 finishers) (Mile splits -7.20 / 7.37 / 7.54 / 7.49 / 7.48 / 7.50 / 7.56 / 7.45 / 7.44 / 7.44 / 7.47 / 7.43 / 7.28 / Last 0.1m - 0.44)
After a really unexpected PB in the Milton Keynes Half on Sunday, 2nd March, I'd noticed that I took much longer than usual to recover (doubtless because I'd not been 'running long' on the treadie in training).
Perhaps because of this, I couldn't get very motivated about the Silverstone Half. Even on race-morning, I couldn't really raise my spirits and was still 'flat' even as the start gun sounded..
But hey, the weather was really nice by Silverstone standards and there I was, after all, getting to run around one of the greatest Grand Prix F1 tracks in the world. So, 'early doors', my spirits lifted and I just decided to 'run free' (like last week) and have a laugh.
Struggled a bit with sore legs through Miles 8 to 10 - how much of a 'pink and fluffy' gym bunny am I? But got a real buzz when I came back onto the main circuit for the final lap, which kept me going through those last 3 miles. As every year, finishing under the giant "Finish" gantry was a real buzz.
I'm genuinely 'red-faced at today's PB, a second over the distance in 8 days. But ce sera sera.
My first half marathon so really just finishing whatever the time is will be an achievement!
God race. Mile marker too far out. Good pace mantained all the way with the execption of the last mile where i slowed a lot.
First Time at this distance, been training hard for this one... Thank God its on a flat course!!!!
Just entered on line 4/3 talk about last minute not realy looking for a PB time but i will still give it my all . A little over dressed this morning it looked like we were in for a down pour before the start so I sliped on an extra layer ( big mistake) great race although it got a little crouded in places, but I still ran inside my expected time so I am Happy. I will comeback next year and see if i can do a little better.
My 2nd time here and the weather was much better than last year, the route can be monotonous but it is good prep for the London Marathon. Organisation & the marshalls were good as ever, goody bag was okay BIG t-shirt and nice MEDAL. Quite enjoyed this run a bit tough in places and not my fastest time but l did finish and nothing was hurting which was a good result for me.
HAD A GOOD RUN .HAMSTRINGS WERE FEELING TIGHT AND PULLING MY KNEE SLIGHTLY
BUT MANAGED TO GET AROUND.USING AS WARM UP FOR LONDON.HOPE HAMSTRINGS DONT GIVE ME TO MUCH TROUBLE FOR THE RUN UPTO FLM
I had some real nerves going on before this race. It was my first official half marathon. I was proud of my run and ran close to a 9 minute mile pace most of the way round.
Entered this race but could not run due to illness
