Alopex Just the most fab event (although had my leg taken me 1:30 I might have had a different opinion). I'm sure that if our team improved their changeover technique we could have picked some more time too. Run augurs well for the Kenilworth half next weekend, where I shall now crash & burn. Obviously. Ooh... one thing I won't be without next year is insect repellant. Without suggesting my legs are tasty, some pesky blighters took a fancy to them. Running Caz Great event, very friendly and a good atmosphere. Ran the first leg which was mixed terrain (trail, grass and mud and pavement). Felt a little uphill with a number of locks. Julie ran 2nd leg (11M) and Rich (ER) ran 3rd leg. Great day, glad I only did 10M though ;-) Cobra RC 1:11:10 1:22:16 1:25:00 1:22:16 59.90
The Juicer (LEG 2 - 11ish MILES)

Big congratulation to M1 and Lurker and the rest of the team for organising a fantastic day out at the JW Ultra. It ran like clockwork, and was a really friendly and interesting event.

Following a week of a sore throat and cold I'd decided (on Dr Velociraptors good advice, she said I'd be 'crazy') to not attempt the 30 miles. But still thought I'd be well enough to have a bash at one of the 10 mile relay legs. Though I knew I would probably find a quickish 10 almost as hard as a plodded 30, as I just hadn't done any tempo training at all.

We'd got Caz on first, me 2nd, and Evil Rich 3rd. With TR as driver and support team co-ordinator (support team being the 3 unruly kids!). We waved Caz off in the chill of the Stratford morning, and drove off to the next checkpoint in Henley (well once we got out of the traffic jam!). Caz ran a superb 1.22, and then I was off. I was right that I'd find a shortish quickish run hard work, and struggled a bit, and the hills were definitely still in my legs from Stretton as I didn't like the tiny inclines. I couldn't fail to enjoy the lovely sunny weather and gorgeous countryside though, and once a pile of ultra-runners had gone past me, I was completely on my own. Most pleasant. But I didn't like what my watch was telling me - the first 1.4 miles had taken me about 17 minutes. And 6.2 miles (10k) had taken me 1.05. Crikey! I was rubbish. I finished my '10 mile' leg in 1.43, and was greatly relieved to be told my Markone that it was actually 11 miles. Phew!!

ER was waiting at Bridge no.19 in Solihull, and after a bit of confusion about where I was actually supposed to stop running, he was off like a shot! Even getting lost, he ran his 10ish miles in around 1.05. We knew the pressure would be on to drive to Bournville and find the finish line in time! Luckily we did, and were even there in time to welcome the fabulous Ultra Minnie over the line. Even with falling over and incurring some nasty looking injuries, she had stormed home as first lady. WELL DONE UM!

After that we all enjoyed several pints, packets of crisps and cakes at the Pavilion. And then we went home.
