bedlam_g Bloody hell that was the toughest race I’ve ever ran the hills just kept on coming, if I can achieve sub 40 here I must be in pretty good shape. Well done to the organisers and everyone involved it all went really well despite the awful weather, and getting Alex McLeish to present the prizes in the week Scotland beat France was a huge coup. This race will get bigger and bigger.

Quadbarrel Have entered online (I think - not the most intuitive of entry systems). Sounds like a really interesting course, but I'm not in pb shape. Plenty of miles in my legs, but not enough speed to challenge 37 mins. I'll be happy with anything under 40. *** Update. Certainly exceeded my time expectation. Really tough course with the first 5k uphill, but a nice couple of k dwnhill after about the 5.5k point. Poured with rain. Couple of points as others have indicated where there could havbeen an extra marshall. Glad I'd checked the route beforehand. Nice to meet Bedlam_g. *** Official time. rleyton Good grief, that was a hilly first half! And the heavy rain didn't really help matters. Whilst it was a small event (and all the better for it), marshalling at some points in town seemed to suffer a little. A few mumbled instructions, or empty junctions had me a tiny bit concerned I'd got it wrong, but thankfully other runners up ahead to keep me right.

As for the time, well, I'm awaiting the official time and this is my own recording time at the moment. My time is probably a bit over what I actually achieved as I didn't stop the watch for good while after crossing the finish line, so a slight chance I may officially get a sub-50min still, but doubtful. Shocked that I was actually so close to 50mins in the end, given how tough it was at points, and the few walking breaks I just had to take. I'm kicking myself a little because I'd written off coming remotely close to making a sub 50 min PB after the first couple of km! Now quite keen to do a (flat!) 10k run to see what I can do on a more level course!

Alex McLeish presenting the prizes? I thought I'd recognised him, but couldn't quite work out what the Scotland football coach would be doing there! Still great to see, even for an Englishman like me ;-)

Update: Results are available, and I actually did get a sub-50min 10k! Wow! Very surprised by that given the course! Bellahouston Road Runners 43:47 49:52 49:52 53.25
Ticketyboo Pleased with my time over a challenging course in very wet conditions. Ran 20:35 for the first 5k which is uphill and returned in 18:14 on the downhill section. Should have been slightly faster but had to turn back at one stage and ask a Police Officer for directions due to a lack of marshals. On another occasion almost went the wrong way at a T junction until I spotted the runner in front going in the opposite direction. The lead female also had a problem at another corner when a police officer had to intervene to stop her from going the wrong way. Would run the race again but hopefully the marshalling problems will be resolved for next year. Cumbernauld AAC, Scottish Veteran Harriers Club 33:50 37:24 38:47 68.47
