Vicki: Graceless Whippet Well, where to start.. I ran this last year with my border collie Murph, and set the first female course record of 22:01. So I just had my own time to beat this year. On the morning I had ran in the Great Women's Run and was feeling a little worn out to be honest, so I told the guy organising the walk not to expect any miracles. Anyways, I had dashed back to South Shields from Roker with my dad, and met up with my mother who had their doggy (Alice - a hungarian visla) all warmed up and raring to go.

We set off at a decent pace and were soon tearing up the leas (where the GNR finishes). We had to dodge loads of dogs, it is the worlds biggest dog walk afterall, but Alice was a little star and was really well behaved. The sun got out and I was thinking I may overheat, but I was ok and we raced back to the finish crossing the line in 21:12 - a new 5k pb and course record :D

I was presented with a lovely silver cup, and Alice got a goody bag full of dog food!

Two races in one day was prolly a bit too much, but after coming 39th in the mornings race and getting some silverware in the afternoon I think it was well worth it ;) Jarrow & Hebburn AC 21:07 21:21 22:40 21:12 69.95
