Determined to break 1hr 50 for this! Unlikely to PB, but the best for some time! UPDATE: woo hoo, did it!
I'll be pacing a friend round her first half. She hasn't trainined much...at all ....so god knows how long it will take. Should be fun though.****** Well in the end she did really well, 2hrs 04 mins. Really enjoyed the race, course is more undulating than I thought it would be. Met Phal before the race :-), and Runneyeyes and (of course) Mick'n'phil on the way round. Good race. Will be there next year.
A PB which is fantastic but it hurt so much. Glute hell!! Think I can do a half in 1.50 if I'm strong enough so roll on next year. Love this course - apart from running into a bollard at one point!
Chip time. Really pleased to get a PB to end the year! Just need to stop falling over and then maybe I will get quicker still...
got to try and beat some of my demon runner friends in this one
Tough course but thoroughly enjoyed it! Think I could've got under 2 hours if I didn't stop for a toilet break!
Chip time - 1:30:36 Pos 89th
Gun time - 1:31:13 Pos 90th
Checked pace back for first half(last year I felt dreadful by mile6, after the hills) I still slowed mile 10/11..and that horrid hill at 12..but I could keep running.Pushed for the line a little late.So PLEASED..I found a balance of enjoyment and punishment (cos you are racing afterall!) Daughter Emma had a really good race as well. Happy families!
Chip: 1:46:32, Gun: 1:47:26. Set off a bit quicker than I needed to, but it felt good. Still ok at mile 6, carried on pushing as much as I could. Mile 10 felt ok and realised if I hung on I was well inside my prediction and PB. Very pleased with the outcome. Splits all over the place because of the hills. Note to self: Coventry is not flat.
third race on the trot so lets see how we go under 1:30 again so happy but tired
Good race - pb beaten by a long way - better than expected.
Looking for sub 1hr 45min.
My first half marathon since my knee injury and my first in 2007.
Ran 11 and a half miles in 1hr 27 mins and felt good so I expect to shatter my best of 2hr 06min set in 2005 all being well.
Added on 21st Oct
A fantastic run which could not have gone better for me. Shattered my previous PB by 27 min 46 secs!!.
Pacing practice and a sharpener.
Missed the start by nearly 13 minutes. I was very tempted to go home. Gave it a blast though, nothing too serious and managed a 1h27m46s by my watch. A good race.
It was an eventful day for me to say the least. Got to Coventry in plenty of time but then managed to turn off the ring-road at the wrong junction. Tried to find my way back and distracted by looking for road signs and slightly dazzled by the low sun I "kerbed" my front wheel and blew the tyre!! Managed to coax the car to a side street (Lower Ford St I think) then 'phoned the AA. It was close to 8:30 at this point and I was convinced I'd miss the start (if I'd tried to change the wheel myself I definitely would've) but they came within 15mins and I got parked in Cox St and "legged" it to the start area to register, pin my number on and dump my bag at the baggage hall. All a bit hectic but I managed to run the race and finish in 1:23.29 (chip) so really pleased. Good course, tougher than Kenilworth I thought, nice medal and well organised and marshalled. Didn't see any cheerleaders tho'?
First race (except for Race for Life, which I did with my 13 year old daughter who had a stitch all the way round, but still managed 28 mins).
I am looking to break 1hr 45mins, although my pb is just over 2hrs my training suggest that this is possible and I am feeling pretty good at the moment. The course was as demanding as the great north in many ways, being caught out by little hills in the middle of the race and struggled to get by runners on downhill paths - but other than that it was well organised and I don't think there was a lot wrong with the way I ran this race either fantastic
Didn't have to run with the wife this time, so set off to hopefully beat my time from last year. Managaed to keep up a good pace even up the hills. Found myself tailing a few people keeping me on pace. Legged it at the end and actually managed to get a new PB by 12 seconds!! Woo Hoo.
First half marathon, very painful. Kept up with Dad until mile 8. Race number 755 and finished 1204th, much more training needed.
managed to find some speed from somwhere partly down to being chased by friend!!!!!!
Ran (/limped) with pulled muscle in knee. Hoping for 2h10 next Oct.
I was lazy with training last year but this was my best half-marathon ever mentally-wise. Was smiling through the most of the race!
