Gobi Swim training, limited Bike training, 46 miles this year running, I can do that. Plan, to finish :¬) What did I learn today? 46 miles of cycling including 23miles 2 weeks ago is not adequate cycle training for a 17 mile race. BUT, I had a great laugh. Oh, I'm faster as a breast stroke swimmer than a freestyler BUT faster is a loose phrase!!!!!! AND I CAN RUN A BIT This was laugh, I finished around 30th and Rach won, good day all told. Rach E This was my first ever triathlon last year. I am relatively confident of knocking a few minutes off mainly due to an improved run and having tri bars on my bike (which I haven't practised with enough!!). There was a gale force wind last year too which slowed things down. ***UPDATE*** Over the moon as I WON THE TRIATHLON in a competitive field :-) :-) Bettered last year's time by nearly nine minutes and improved in all three disciplines (although there was less wind this year). 400m swim (8:13 - includes run to bike. Horrid swim involving changing lanes, getting out after 8 lengths and starting again. Actual swim 7:32.); 17 mile bike 49:25 (includes T1. Actual time on bike 48:40); 7.5km run 29:28 (includes T2. Actual time for run 28:25). Splits tbc as waiting for results online. My transitions are APPALLING but I am very pleased with my performance and with a bit more practice on the road bike then I can go a lot faster (although brompton training rules!!!).
