BlueWombat going to make this a long slow run in preparation for later marathons. Well, I survived last Sunday's marathon, and time to report I guess. The start was near a city called Douliu, which we reached on the train. There were coaches lined up to meet arrivals off the train, whisk you to the local stadium where the number pick up was, and then back to the hotel. Very well organised and smooth as clockwork. The hotel we stayed in was a swish place and cost too much but it had a theme park attached which was good because the rest of the family could ride the rollercoasters and nausea generating rides while I ran the marathon. I spent Saturday afternoon/evening watching them risk life and limb. Woke early Sunday and treated (?) myself to a pot noodle and dried banana breakfast, plus some iced coffee. Got the 5am coach to the start area, which was deserted. Hung around watching the volunteers and organisers sort out the organisation, and picked up my Cambridge & Coleridge AC, Cambridge University Hare & Hounds 3:28:13 4:12:40 4:30:00 4:14:21 50.90
