Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

pre: excuses in early: no runs of over 7 miles for weeks, so I'll take anywhere around 1h40...
post: 1.36.23 - 147/635 - haven't crashed so badly in a race, ever. on for pb til 7 then totally lost it. almost stopped 10-12. must run longer more often... looks like another cracking finish a la Dumbarton between gilroy and millar
Hoping for a modest improvement with more training and less snow. **UPDATE** Squeaked a PB at Polo Mint City (chip time). 24 roundabouts! When I told someone I was doing EK they said "oww, it's horrible - all those roundabouts and underpasses". Which is maybe a little unfair. Just a little. Very congested first mile - people walking after just a few hundred metres. Took 10:20, well off planned pace. Would be a lot better if run on the roads at start - which are closed anyway. Tiring from 9m on, drifted away from target. Training was two long runs short, and it showed. Congratulations to all those (2405 points!) with the perspicacity to bet on me, I must have won you about four points :-)
Don't yet feel fully fit so don't waste your bets!

Post-race: Warm day and felt dehydrated throughout but apart from that felt very comfortable. Ran about 7min mile pace to halfway, lost about 3mins between 7-11 and then made about a minute back from 11-13. Good, strong finish but probably should have pushed pace on a bit earlier. Wasn't going for PB so reasonably happy with time. Course pretty uninspiring - long straights and too many rounadbouts - polo mint city indeed. Organisation was first class though and I was very glad of the water stations every 2-3 miles. 113th out of 635.
My second HM and really enjoyed it, got the pacing a bit better this time and only felt like being sick after the sprint finish, instead of the whole way round :)

Fiinished 4th lady, and knocked nearly 2min off last months PB, so I'm a happy chicken.
Looking to beat my PB on this one, but as I've never ran it, then I'm not so sure. I'm going to try and take advantage of the 2 circuits and up or drop my speed accordingly in the second lap if need be.

To put it bluntly, I didn't like this race. Very boring. All on road and underpaths until the last bit where you take a very sharp turn right and up a track. I don't think personally I was 100% as I struggled for several miles after a good start.
Don't like the repeat of the same course
especially when the 10k runners finish on the 1st lap
