I started running seriously in summer 2006 when I joined the ranks of the luminous Carnegie Harriers. Prior to that I'd done a couple of 5K and 10K races, primarily because my better half was running and it seemed like the right thing to do. My main goal in 2006 was to run in the inaugural Aviemore Highland half marathon and I wanted to get round in under 2 hours. In the end I managed it in just over 1hr 40mins which I was very pleased with and is due in a large part to training with the club. Updating this profile over a decade later... For a few years I did very little running or cycling. That has changed recently and with the Covid-19 lockdown, I've not been commuting so have had a lot more time for exercise. In the past couple of months my mileage has shot up and I've had my biggest months since 2007. Fitness has improved massively. Times are still a fair way off what I was doing back in 2007 but improving steadily.
