About Me

Needless to say I'm dull as ditchwater otherwise what would I be doing entering race results into a browser? I run for San Domenico, a club I chose due to my name being Dominic and San Domenico being Italian for "Saint Dominic" . . . . trails off uncertainly . . . when you write it down it seems rather like Dougal from Father Ted naming his rabbit "Sampras" due to "That whole tennis/rabbit connection".
I've been running since Aug 2005 and in that time I've learned a few things
1. The wind is always in your face
2. The more a race costs to enter, the less good it is likely to be.
3. The more people who enter a race, the more people wearing headphones with their race number pinned triumphantly to their back, grimly clutching a water bottle will start right at the front with the elites.
4. When someone is trying to make running really complicated, listen politely then ignore everything they said.
5. Racing often is way more fun than chasing PBs that in my case wouldn't be that impressive anyhow.
6. People who don't do fell or cross country are big tarts.
7. Every new, brilliant idea about running/style/diet/shoes is a fad, faddists are people who have taken such pains to fool themselves that they can appear very convincing to the novice.
8. People who insist that parkrun isn't a race either don't understand what a race is or don't understand a simple concept that you can call something anything you like for whatever reason (Political Correctness, Groupthink, stupidity) but you cannot make someone else ignore their own common sense.
9. Never put a sock in a toaster.
