Describe your ideal run, ride or swim.
Running for a couple of hours with one or more of my lovely friends. No pressure, just enjoying the scenery and the craic.

What's the biggest challenge that awaits you?
A marathon. I always said I'd never attempt it but then I entered the Liverpool last year. Yet to run it due to Covid restrictions and my fitness is waning.

What’s the best bit of advice that you would give to new runners, bikers and swimmers?
Buy good footwear for running, buy a bell if you're a cyclist and if you swim in the sea, just hold your nose and go through the motions.

About Me

Retired geezer and wheezer.
I'm 67 , married and I have 5 grandkids. I suffered terribly at school in cross - country running. I had asthma and it wasn't well treated in those days. When our kids arrived I decided I needed to get fit. I've been running over 35 years, sometimes well, sometimes poorly, but I've kept going. I had a career as an alcoholic which didn't help. When I gave up the booze and retired I increased my running. Eventually I joined first one and then a second club. Sadly, I found I couldn't cope with the competitive and social aspects and I left. I now run either alone or with a few friends. I'm happy just to be running over the ground and not lying beneath it. Running has kept me sane during the Covid restrictions. I hope to complete two marathons in 2021 - a local one and the Virtual London
