About Me

If I can do it anyone can.
Although I'd ran up to 5ks in the past to try and get a little lighter and fitter for my real passion of skiing it was always a chore and never much fun. At the tail end of 2017 I made a little bit more effort as I approached 15 stone and went out more regularly and also ran a couple 10ks along with my 5ks but didn't enjoy it.
At the end of my 5 week skiing trip in April I had my invite to the 2018 Ski Patrol party and had a drunken chat to Marie who is a seriously good runner having competed at Montana State events and is still a Philipsburg High School record holder. Sub 20 minute 5ks amongst other fast times up to full marathon distance. Time to get myself fit lightbulb moment there and I bagged myself a coach.
Coming back home I started going to the Hazlehead park run and between May and July 2018 took my time from 25.21 to 22.22 and have ran a sub 22 5k. I entered my 1st 10k and although my calf had a slight strain I hit 50.50. I then entered my first 1/2 marathon in Dundee running in stifling heat a time of 1.53.04.
Entering a load more races I have taken 8 minutes off my 1/2 PB running the Dyce 1/2 marathon in 1.44.49, lost 2 stone in weight and am well under 18% body fat. I now enjoy running and miss getting out when I have a niggle.
The ultimate couch potato is now talking protein, planks, hill sprints and more!
My aims for 2018/2019
Get nearer 12 stone than 13 Sub 20 5k Sub 40 10k Sub 1.30 1/2 marathon Run a 5k, 10k and 1/2 marathon in Montana Possibly run a marathon if the stars align
