About Me

Began jogging to get fit and lose weight at the tender age of 54 and joined a group at Huddersfield Sports Centre. Our Coach, Alan Taylor, thought I had racing potential and persuaded me to take up the challenge. 15 months later I placed 1st M55 in the hilly Pennine Marathon and went on to win my age category in 7 out of 8 marathons. Two were in London, in 1993 and 1995, not only beating all the MV60's but taking the British Championship in both. My fastest was 2.53.04. Alan was right!

10 km: Huddersfield Town Centre
0:37:22 - 1990 (aged 58)

Half Marathon: York Run

In addition I topped British Age Group Rankings over various distances on the Track.
Was 1st MV60 three times in the prestigious 3 Peaks of Yorkshire race and won the inaugural MV70 FRA Fell Running Championship.
I've stopped racing now. At 85 I'm resting on my laurels but still jog round our local hills a few time a week to stay fit and healthy - and for sheer enjoyment. See my blog: Link (roll over me to see where I go)
