About Me
I started running 5 years ago at the age of 63 although I had done a little in my youth and also ran/walked race for life on several occasions. However, I was encouraged, or perhaps should say 'nagged', into joining parkrun and was soon running 5k. Bitten by the bug, my sister suggested I joined her and my daughter in entering Market Drayton 10k. Within a year I had also completed my first marathon. In May 2017 I was diagnosed with a high grade clear cell carcinoma. This required a hysterectomy but I was soon back running. Chemotherapy followed but I saw this as a positive challenge and completed the Great North Run and Birmingham Marathon in between my sessions. In spite of radiotherapy, which made fitting in longer training runs difficult, April 2018 saw me completing the London Marathon, raising over £1400 for Maggie's Cambridge, (cancer support centre). The future is still uncertain but I hope to be able to continue running for as long as I possibly can.
