I started running back in 2006 just before I found out I was pregnant with my second son who was born in May 2007. I took up running again in Jan 2008 and have never looked back. As a working mum with a fast paced, full time job and two small, but very energetic boys, running is my sanctuary.
I actually enjoy training more than I like racing but I think that is a confidence thing, however, the hard work paid off when I got a new 4min PB at the Silverstone Marathon 2011. Not only did I run a HM faster than before but it was, without a doubt, the most comfortable HM I have ever completed.
I completed my first running marathon in 4:53:19 at VLM 2011 and, although it was tough in the hot weather, I enjoyed the experience. However, I still am convinced that it is not the distance for me.
Unfortunately I have had a couple of health setbacks the last couple of months but after having my (hopefully) last lot of treatment, I am now on the road to recovery. Being ill makes you realise how important it is to really live life to the fullest. I may never win a race, or run the longest race, but I am committed to fulfilling my own personal potential, one goal at a time!
