About Me

Oooh, it's been a while since I updated this. So.. I did my first (and probably last) standard distance Tri in 2013 after a few attempts at sprint distances, and while I loved doing it, I hated the pitying looks I got being fat and slow on the run course, so I guess tri's really not for me! I'm now focussing on the swimming aspect, as it turns out I'm quite tolerant of cold water, which means I can swim outdoors pretty much any time I like if I can find a lake to swim in :-). I'm still fat and slow, but that turns out not to matter so much in open water swimming, if anything the fat is an advantage, and I'm slow enough to enjoy immersing myself in my surroundings :-). My goals right now (subject to change on a whim) are a Channel relay in 2016, and bagging a few more Cumbrian lakes between now and then :-)

I'm trying to work on improving my running speed, as I'd really like to be able to take part in a standard distance triathlon in 2011, and I'm too slow right now. My training plan's here if you're trying to pester me ;-) spreadsheets.google.com I'm useless at sticking to training plans, so my plan is usually to 'do something' each day. Short-term my goal is to lose weight and be a faster runner. Longer term I'd really love to be able to complete an Ironman.

I am lazy and disorganised, and easily put-off by bad weather. Running is my weakest tri discipline by a huge margin, and therefore the thing I'm most likely to avoid doing
