my running life from beginning to today :)

30 SEPTEMBER 2009

very new to the whole concept of running for fun! :-)
never been an athlete, never done any sports nor been good at any... always the last to be picked and the first to be dropped!
but I really want to get fit (I'm 3 stone overweight and middle-age spread is lurking!) and have had the great fortune and priviledge to meet a fantastic Coach... he's teaching me how to think, how to run, how to enjoy it. I asked him to take me from 0 to 5miles in 6 weeks.... he did it in 13 days!!! he is amazing! made me really believed I can do it! onwards and upwards :-)

UPDATE 30 NOVEMBER 2009 - I've been running on and off for a couple of months now, really enjoy it, lost quite a bit of weight, gained confidence, bettered my endurance and my times... :-)

I am still a rebel - and Coach doesnt really appreciate this! :-D - but am getting better at listening and following the plan... the only way is up!! :-))

UPDATE - 24 APRIL 2010
I have lost 2 stone, I am now a size 8 (from a 12/14), I am the lightest I have been in 15 years, I just broke the sub30minutes 5k.
I am still a rebel, but this was the last day of it.
25 April is the beginning of a new life - il giorno della liberazione dell'Italia, il giorno della rinascita!

UPDATE - 10 MAY 2010
another great PB!! got a sub 29' on 5k :-)

managed really good steady runs for 1h in 35' heat :)

top girl!! :D onwards, upwards, faster, better :)

UPDATE AUGUST 2010
improvements are slow but they are improving :)
finally got a new 5K PB 28:36 and joined a running club, the Pudsey Pacers!

happy with the work I will be doing, bigger, greater, harder things ahead :)

nice season of PBs :)
best ever 5k in sub 27min
almost achieved target 10K with 55.46
weight fluctuating a bit but in general stays off and I am still eating like a mad person (granted it is mostly veggies tho!) - I am a Next size 6 tho LOL that made my day! ;-) and a 27 size jeans!! and CK dresses are huge on me in a US size 4! - funny thing being normal LOL

UPDATE 24 JANUARY 2011
first ever half marathon race - tick done! hard work but I did it! 16min faster than in training!

onto mara training now! increasing training to 6times a week, upping to 40/50miles week and loosing a stone should do the trick!

now then, last cream cake and slouching on the couch tonight then ;-)
