Started fell running at the age of about 4, running for a bit with when on walks up fells with the family. Started running competitively at around 8, for my school, and joined my first club, Border Harriers AC, at the age of 9. I represented Cumbria and Cumbria Schools in the National Cross Country in Year 7, 8, 9 and 10. I hope to run the nationals in year 11 as well. At the age of 12 I joined Keswick AC, competining in my first fell race, the Open British and Irish Fell Champs, Latrigg, the same year, finishing 12th. At the age of 13 I won my first fell race, a CFR Champs race, and also finished 4th in the Kendal Winter League, and 7th in the FRA Championship. At 14 I ran the Hawksead 10k in 37.43, and finished the FRA Junior Uphill Fell Champs, at Arnison Crag, in a 6th place. Two days after I was 15, I ran the Newlands Valley 9k in 35.57.
