About Me

Started running back in 2005 (was it really that long ago) when I did a R4L when my Grandma had the big 'C'. After a lot of stop-start attempts at becoming a real runner, I finally found my (quite slow) groove when I decamped to Wiltshire.

I now run sporadically, usually with a race as a goal to keep me active and motivated although I love it most when I go for a run when I want to, not just because the plan on the fridge door tells me too.

Having been the fattest kid in the year at school, it's so fabulous now that out of all my contemporaries from long ago, I'm one of the fittest and healthiest. Does marvels for the self esteem.

Took to running 10ks which are just about the right length for me so I try to do several of those each year although life gets in the way of race day far too often for my liking. Did my first half earlier this year which wasn't as traumatic as I thought although I've been told it's like childbirth. Bl**dy hard work while you're doing it but once you're finished you enjoy the euphoria and can't wait for the next one.

Would love to do a proper marathon somewhere touristy like London so I can see all the sights but failing that, because I want to do one soon before I get tempted to hang up my runners, I would love to do Paris or New York. Or maybe I'll do all three. Right before heading to the nearest shrink!
