I'm the classic recreational runner these days - used to be reasonably competitive, but given my two-year-old son, family commitments, work and lack of time to train as I'd like to, I prefer to run rather than race - it's my time to myself, for thinking, sorting my head out, and just escaping from the daily grind! I still challenge myself on my training runs and run between 25 and 30 miles a week, with my long runs ranging from 10-14 miles. At the moment I'm happy with that but I still hanker after another marathon PB ... I probably do need to race as I don't think my PBs are remotely reflective of my current ability and fitness levels.
