My 5th Ultra Event and unfinished business @ The Millennium Way Ultra. Unfinished business and the one where I did not go off-course - with the GPX file on my watch. NEVER out of the top 2 lying 1st>2nd>1st>2nd throughout the event, so finishing runner up to 37-year old Senior Man, Daniel Woodall, 7 mins behind him, I was 16 mins ahead of 3rd to complete the podium. Finally finisher finished in 71st position and in 12 hours 7 mins. After all the rain/flooding, most of the canal tow paths were slippy and churned up and the farmers fields were horrendous: paddy fields; sinking clay or thigh high (literally) slurry! Myself and Daniel were 2 mins behind early leader at CP1; and 5 behind him at CP1, but reeled him in by 26 miles and he finished 10th. Moving time 6:15:18.

A grand day out in the Peak District with Tom as part of BGR prep and my trial run with Tom for compatibility. He sorted us out a hilly course with 8,284 ft of climbing (5 stiff climbs amongst others) and pulling in Hollins Cross; Mam Tor; Lord's Seat; Brown Knoll; Kinder Low; Grindslow Knoll; Win Hill (3rd ascent of that in 8 months); plus - lots and lots of ankle-deep sinking peat bog; and lots of technical boulder dodging. It revisited part of my Peak District 50 and Ladybower 33M Ultra courses. Time is moving time - we stopped to grab a coffee from a farm shop/mini-cafe; had a sit down munch; washed our filthy shoes in a farm trough; and other brief 2-minutes etc, so elapsed time 9:52:46
