Groundhog Marathon. 105.5 laps of Telford Athletics Track
I actually quite enjoyed this crazy race. Decided beforehand to record 5 lap (2km) splits to help me keep count. 8:30 splits would give me 2:59:21 which was my aim, but had a cold which didn't shift until a few days before and so TBH would have been happy with 3:08.
Set out at sub 3 pace. got to half way in 1:29:50, but started to slip of the pace and lost concentration/motivation to chase a time for several laps. Reset target to sub 3:05 and GFA for 2016 VLM. though was in 4th place when got to bell at same time as another runner and got told we were both starting our last lap. Found a little more energy and TBF he was knackered so thought I had moved into 3rd, only to be told was in 2nd. Well chuffed although would have liked sub-3. Head and body willbe better for Brighton when I will go sub-3.
I actually have splits for all 105.5 laps from the race organisers, butdidn't want to take up the whole training page!!

Very well done Marts brilliant running.
Can't imagine going round and round for over 100 laps! Not surprised concentration dipped, I 'd have gone crazy! Superb effort and fab 2nd place
