London Marathon
Well, what to say about this? Today my legs didn't want to play ball so I had to reassess pace at 5 miles; HR was fine, or what HR used to be for a marathon but I just felt I couldn't sustain the pace. I had to got about 5 bpm lower than in my PB attempt - undoubtedly the lack of training contributed to this.

But OMG it was mental, both in a positive and in a negative meaning. The crowds were unbelievable, had tears in my eyes a couple of times. Running was very stressful though because I had to concentrate so hard on avoiding collisions with runners suddenly changing speed and/or direction, dripping over bottles and other things. Mentally this was tough and I was utterly exhausted at the end and just wanted to leave the finish area. No more crowds! I'm definitely a lone runner, prefer smaller races like Wrexham marathon last month. At times it was so much fun, e.g. the group playing YMCA at mile 15, we were all doing the moves while running. It was really an emotional rollercoaster. The samba and other drum groups were awesome, as were the bag pipes. Chariots of fire made me tear up, too. And then there were moments when I cursed it all, the course, the masses of runners, the weather (it was sunny and warm).
