Notes & Comments

Got warmer just before start and through race but nothing major - just unexpected. Breeze was odd and seemed to never really be behind when folks expected the return from about 5 miles to have it to our advantage!

Was hoping for Sub 7 pace but just didn;t feel good to start and was going backwards by end of mile 3 and 4. Walked last bit of 5 (which was up the not-that-big hill) and pulled myself together a bit.

Last 5 miles finally got into it better but was working harder than I'd like for that pace. Spied a lass ahead then when got to her decided to try for the next, turned out to be 5 close together then another quite far ahead again. Finally caught her in mile 13 but she pushed on and had to wait to get her in the sprint finish. Felt good to be 'racing' once I got myself together. Only 1 guy passed me after about 6 - 7 miles and that was going up the climb in mile 12.

Definitely struggling on even small inclines - like I only know they are there when I suddenly feel really heavy / dead. Think quads have taken a long time to recover from Hamsterly Marathon hills?

Happy enough to know where I am.

Breathing struggled a wee bit with sinus issues. Think that cleared around mile 5 or 6 (blocked again within about half hour of race mind!).

Good news - nothing particularly noticeable or sore not even RHS quad :) Wee twinge from behind right knee in the middle or slightly later miles but it went away again.
