London Marathon 88th in 2-36-16 (PB & Club Record)
Well the marathon plan came together at just the right time
A nice but small taper, sensible carb loading and I was ready. Lined up early behind the elite's so I got to see Mo in the flesh for the first time
To the race, I set off with two aims, 5-50 miles for as long as possible and to take on gels and jelly babies at exact points along the route.
Was gutted seeing fetchie Steve Way pulling up injured after an exhibition of training since xmas but these things happen
Anyway kept going, 10 miles in 58-30 and feeling great, half way 1-17-08 and even through 20 miles 1-58 dead I was still feeling alright
The wait for the complete emptiness never happened, the legs remained strong so I crossed the line a happy man in 2-36-16
No months of recovery required this year I hope!
