London marathon. Over the moon with result tbh. Massive PB and mental victory.
Following massage left hammies/glutes painful but working. Very easy jogging from hotel to train @ L'Bridge and high right hip flexors shot in a cramp. Was actually considering not to start.
Went anyway, what the hell why not?? If need be jog around the course and enjoy the day. From the off started easy but once joined by Steve was able to team up, Simon Way from BAC was around for a few miles too. But had to let these chaps go around mile 7 as I was a very far cry from comfortable. I then aimed to stick to my own task of keeping it steady for a sub 2:50. Kept the carbs up and 2nd half initially slowed down but had a bit left in the tank for a good finish & passing a good number of runners on the course. Training paying off!
Splits below are largely rubbish in terms of being exact, escpecially post 6m. Garmin distance far out and reading 26.65m. Impressive peak pace too....
Don't look forward to the morning as the legs are getting stiff & painful as is right ankle. Some recovery ahead! But all on great satisfaction. Could actually live with never doing a marathon again.....but perhaps there's more to be had on a 100% day?
