Paris Marathon.
Start on Champs Elysees was as bonkers and chaotic as I imagined but great view behind, all you could see were thousands of heads packed along the avenue all the way back to the Arc de Triomphe, atmosphere was fantastic.
Was sunny but still cold first thing and started off well sticking to good pace even though it took couple of miles for my feet to warm up. Definitely was in the right pen so run was trouble free and plenty of room along the wide roads. Crowds were out in force but definitely not as noisy as London.
First half ticked by nicely and then next goal was 18m, felt ok but had slowed down and was off plan by now. Didn’t feel I could pick it up so kept steady and ok to 20, started stiffening up a little so the last 6 was case of counting down one at a time to finish. Garmin accurate most of the way, lost satellite in the 3 under passes in second half so splits may not be quite right but was only 0.3 miles out at the end.
Didn’t manage to get swept away by any suave French gentlemen, but I did get elbowed in the back several times by said “gentlemen” at the water stations as these were situated on one side of the road only every 5K and each and every one was a scramble.
All in all had a brilliant weekend and a great experience doing Paris. Happy with time although 8 mins off plan. Hasn’t put me off doing another, so where to next??…

Well done great running and enjoyable write up, all the training paid off ! Next marathon, heard CK would like some company at MK ?
So glad you enjoyed it e'o. Brilliant run in memorable city. As you say where to next? You're a marathon addict!!! Super run - should be very proud great design medal too!
Congratulations Elaine, absolutely great run. Your a true mara addict doing all that training on your own and being brave enough to tackle a mara abroad. Well done again.
The World is your Oyster as they say! Well done, fantastic run
I hear that eldowing a lady means you like said lady, maybe you were too quick for him to chat to! well done.
Well done E'o. Managed to 'follow/stalk' your progress with the mobile App. Tallinn next?
Awesome run. Well done. Saw from the official results it took you 30 minutes to get across the start line, that could have cost you some time. Don't be to hard on yourself you did amazing. From your training it looks like you did some long runs on your own which is very hard so massive slap on the back to you.
