Ok, 12 safety pin rule...... 8 for the vest 4 for the numbers...... got to the race and found that I had my sons vest.... a bays vest foer an extra large body....... hmmmm. Good job i had a long sleeved top, so used the 8 pins to pin the club vest to it (Hants Road race rules have to have vest).
So anyway after a warm and look at the course, very hilly and very windy it was off to the start and aiming to score point for the club so come home as 4th club scorer or better.
Mile 1 - 7:33 and the first big hill, (BIG) 1st of our runners is away and the second gets me o the hill.
Mile 2 - 7:15 and undulating lets say...........
Mile 3 - 6:54, thats better some down hill and a good pace.
Mile 4 - 7:25 ah another hill and drop ro 4th for club as overtaken by mate.....
Mile 5 - 7:54, Big, THAT blinkin well hurt HILL............. 37:03, oh and all the above seemed into the wind.....
Mile 6 - 6:39 more sodding hills, how many hills are there on the Isle of Wight......
Mile 7 - 7:03 at last a big WWWWWWWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE, thats down hill not a wee.
Mile 8 - 7:12 the first flat part of the course and holding 4th and last scorer for the club still, but looking over shoulder to find rest of club guys..
Mile 9 - 8:02, How long, how hard, how high that was a KILLER.......the biggest hill and Im done for.
Mile 10 - 6:45, suddenly realise that the last mile is all flat, so manage to push it......
1:13:46 cross the line a negative split too by 20 secs, dont know how other than the wind was up our backs for 4 out of the last 5m. Did come in 4th for the club so happy with that too.
Now to Find MRS RFJ and find out why our vest are swapped over........................ (She is still laughing her head off after I told her.....) Hopefully there is no photograph evidience.
Even though that was a stinking hard race I am happy with the out come.......
