London Marathon. Slowest London and only marathon since my 1st one since my 1st marathon in Copenhagen where I really wanted to stop (for mosdt of the last 4M).
Enough downbeat stuff though. Plan was to run 1st 10M in 67-67:30 then 2nd 10M in 66:30-67:00 and speed up to run 2:54-2:57
Managed 67:20 for 1st 10 and 67:39 for 2nd 10 to reach 20M in 2:14:59 but couldn't quicken and did the last 10k in 43:21.
Last 4 miles real struggle. knew I could break 3hrs if I ran 7:15 pace. At 23M knew I needed ~7:30 pace. 24M 8:00 pace and at 25M 8:30 pace was all I needed but was still struggling just to keep going.
Passed the WJ cheering point at 800m to go and 10min miling would have down from there but I still felt awful. 200m to go and I could've walked in the sub 3 but I keep pushing on as I didn't trust my legs to move if I let them stop running.
No idea why I couldn't quicken. hydration, heat, age, too many marathons in my legs.
