London Marathon. Lived up to every expectation and even delivered more! Started with a fair amount of apprehension due to abdom strain, but decided long time ago that I would just run slowly as in training and not push it. Anything under 4.30 would be bonus. Fantastic, almost perfect weather with cloudless skies at start and warm sunshine. First few miles were very easy, could feel AS, but never got worse and better than in all long traninig runs! Maybe getting better?? Mile 13 fetchpoint was good focal point and boost, and then dug in deep for next 9 miles until mile 22 fetchpoint, where I wanted to stop for a few seconds and say hi to family etc. Crowd was really amazing, so much noise, encouragement and people! Last few miles were quite tough, but never really thought about walking, rather stopping for rest! Had sliight concern about abductors that I thought were going to cramp up ,but took good drink on endurance liquid and got better. Good run to finish and so happy to have got to end in what was a really fantastic day. Superb organisation throughout, except for meeting area that was hard to get out of, compounded by fact that there was a storm with lots of wind and cold rain. I was freezing, but made it back to hotel to get bags and back for bus to Luton and home. Overall a really fantastic experience but probably won't do it again as I feel this is a once in a lifetime experience and it would be potentially anticlimatic to do it again.
