Notes & Comments

Took part in the London 10,000 today. Quite unprepared for today as my knee was just bit but devoured by the injury bug. Has cleared up to the point where I could do the distance on it so decided to go for it but took a couple of ibuprofen and put a knee brace on to make sure. Wasn't expecting a great time, just looking to get round. Had the strategy of going quite steady for the first 4k, picking up the pace over the next 4 and then going as fast as I can in the final 2. Was quite warm and with little breeze so I tried to keep the pace as steady as I could. Tried to push on after 4k but lack of training and weather put pay to that. Just tried to get round as quick as I could without decimating my knee. Think I deviated from the racing line quite a bit during the first 3k as I was .23k over after 3k and just .18k the rest of the way. Think I did a negative split which was pleasing and the last 3k were quite strong. Was a bit disappointed by the time at the end but after thinking about the weather, my knee, lack of training and that I haven't had a race in nearly a year, was alright with my time. Hopefully knee completely clears up and the next time I run down Birdcage Walk is in April 2012.
