Eye 10k PB by 49 sec
Aim for this race was to get a PB (43.21) and try and get near 42 min (target for summer end) andway 42 is 6.46m/m so aimed for that.
Massive, massive turnout for WJ ready for group picture, never done this before so didn't realise just how many yellow vests would be about
Got there a little late and brought BM and BS for support.
Start was crammed and the gun went off, I thought we were going straight on so was surprised when we all went right lol. Pace started a little quick and soon we had done the 'block' and were heading out towards North Bank, horrible straight Rd with a head wind, looked at Garmin and realised I was going a bit quick, this was confirmed when I caught up Trotters (after passing GW :)), eased back slightly and tried to run to the Garmin, was running with Mr HH about this time but had no idea where others were like Sheppie, Pdackerman, Calvin, Heyjude, etc. Also thought some old school friends were in front and I secretly wanted to beat them !
Head wind really sapped me and was glad when we turned off after two and a bit miles, went through 5k in 21.01 ish but was feeling it, kind of hoped my back may start hurting or something so I had an excuse to slow up, no such luck all was fine
Got to 4 miles and was hurting but decided to keep plodding on Justin and Simon were just in front so kept them in sight. 5th mile was hardest and also the slowest but at least at the end of it its only a mile and bit to go, enjoyed the track bits more and passed a few others including Luke D, finally came back into Eye and as we turned into the school managed a decent sprint to the end and came in with my PB
Was really hot and muggy out there and found all hard work but really chuffed with time, also beat old school mates and a few WJ which was pleasing, didn't hang around for long after as BS was getting hungry, look forward to reading all about others race later on and on Tuesday.
Good race well organised and Marshalled, off to make and eat a chicken stir fry and wash it down with a beer before watching footy later on
Well done, cracking run, really pleased for ya, sub 42 won't be a problem...
Brilliant run swerver! Good to see BS and BM too.Never so much as spotted you you were so far ahead! Just think what you can do on a cooler, non-windy and purely on-road course! Clearly the winding up between you and sheppie works! Come on the reds now!
up the blues.... good run, well done....
Storming run swerver, brill stuff, looked good at the end, keep those PB's coming!
well done mate, looks like it could be one of many pb's this year!
Fantastic run, well done. I know what you mean, I was looking for an excuse to stop after about 4.5 miles.
Well done:-) enjoy the beer!
Mile 4 and you plodded on at 6.54mm pace - LOL. Great run and PB, big congrats and enjoy your beer.
great running, lovely to have beautiful girls there for support as ever.........what a poppet BS is.
great run, though I think my supportive comments this week can take some of the credit LOL
Well done S, the first of a hat full of PB's this summer based on your mara training - next one next week!! But it wasn't really hot, more like mild compared to Hawassa
Great to hear you got the PB you wanted and deserved-agree wth you about the wind; it was awful! You're going from strength to strength!
rumour has it that hawassa was mild compared to brighton lol
Great time and well done on your PB. I am sure you will have many more. Cheers Kelvin
rumour has it brighton was cooler than london!!
