Notes & Comments

This was my fourth Great North Run and the conditions were perfect. Dudeoid and I set off from Hull at 4:30 this morning and arrived at a soaking wet South Shields at 7:15. My run went perfectly as I zipped through the first mile in 7:16 and got to half way in 49:30. The results from the timing mats on the GNR website don't tally exactly with my watch but I kept up a good pace, even through the horrific 11th mile, and finished in a new PB of 1:42:14. This was the most effort I'd ever put into a run and I think this is as far as I can go on my current training regime. I also set a new 10 mile PB en route of 1:17:33. More importantly, Dudeoid enjoyed her first GNR and finished in a fantastic 2:16:50 - 7 minutes quicker than my first half marathon. Brilliant.
