Brass Monkey half marathon.
The splits showed what happened. Been feeling really ill all week, especially last few days and was even struggling in the mile warm up. Felt awful right from the start. First mile was a bit off the charts as Garmin was being all weird and I thought it actually said 7.33!
Settled into sub 1.40 pace by 5 miles, then felt worse and worse. Had to take inhaler and it all went downhill form there - unfortunately not the gradient
Tried to fight back at 9 miles and was still just on pace up to 10, but hit again with breathing and had to take inhaler again, felt sick and dizzy. Knew 1.40 was gone but if I could just hang on I could get a pb so desparately dug in final 2 miles.
Never been so glad to see the end of a race! Really hard from step one and many many mental (and physical) blocks along the way.
Still love the race, but not quite a magical feeling as last year!
