Wow, tough race. Chilly to start, but got very warm on the long unshaded sectors. Lateral knee pain started at about 6 miles, did some stretching. Bad pain at 12 miles and thought I was mad to carry on. Got to 13.1 miles and thought "can't give up now - I'm half way". Managed to run until about mile 15/16. Got to 16.2 and thought "only 10 to go". Then forced myself to carry on in small increments get to 16.5, then to 17, then to 17.2 "only 9 to go" and so on! Really friendly people at the back, over taking each other, being over taken, encouranging each other to run "just a little bit further", checking to make sure we were all OK if any of us stopped - either to stretch or throw up etc!!, sharing drinks and snacks. Nice atmosphere. Managed to run the last half mile and cried when I crossed the line!!
