Edinburgh Marathon. Very, very, very hot all the way. No breeze, no shade. Was hoping for sun at back on way back but forgot sun changes position with time so in my face the entire way.
Felt good and was really going for 3.45, had to be 8.35 pace and was well on target until 21.5 mile (even though mile 21 was 9min+ I had around 1min in bank by my pace band). Genuinely don't think classic case of starting too fast and paying later, but the heat was unbearable, had to be at least 24 degrees and water stations at end ran out so struggled with little fluid. When knew 3.45 was out, was just case of enjoying it and finishing. Still ran the whole way, didn't stop or walk once and finished very, very happy. Managed last 1/4 mile at 8m/m pace ;-). Not disappointed at all!
