Notes & Comments

Edinburgh marathon, my first one! Had an idea about how I needed to pace myself to get around in about 3:51:00. By the half way mark I was spot on, despite falling over at mile 8 and grazing my knees, Grrr. I started to suffer from about mile 17 / 18 onwards (along with most others from what i've read) when leaving Gosford House. The rest of the trip was mind over matter, forcing myself to every mile marker and knowing I needed 10min miles to get sub 4hrs, which was the main goal. Couldn't believe it when I finished, I was so chuffed but so knackered. Considering the heat, i'm told that I did really well to get sub-4 on my first. Seeing Fetchpoint was amazing, it gives you such a buzz and the evening do was brill too. I think I may even do another one at some stage!!! Splits: 10km-0:48:28, Half-1:47:17, 30km-2:37:23.
