Notes & Comments

Scheduled was: MicknPhil Half Marathon - Defo PB but also looking to crack 2hrs (which was a bit of a challenge as my last half was back in 2005)
Anyways

What happened was:
It was tough mailnly because of the wind, no only because of the wind it would have been really nice otherwise. Ok so it rained a bit towards the end but that doesnt stop you going forwards. Ate a bag of raisins before start, MicknPhil started us off and I spent the 1st 2miles thinking I was going too fast and trying to slow down, when I was probably OK. Popped a gel after 30mins (as itll take about 30mins to hit home) tnen another at 7m and another about 11m (basically 30min intervals). Was doing well felt good although eric was too far in front for my liking tried to make some inroads into his lead at about mile 5 but everything I gained I then lost into the brutal headwind. Tried to think of ways to combat it but the only thing could think of was putting head down and working hard into it, but it was draining. Having done a bit of sailing, going by the white horses on the water, I would say the gusts coming across were force 6/7. Either way it wer tough running into it. Towards the end probably the last three miles I checked Eric and he was 875ft in front, no way of making that up I thought. But then managed to convince myself to push on for the best time I could. About a mile and a half later I checked Eric again and realised that I was totally wrong (failing eyesight again) and eric was 80ft ish ahead. OK its still on I thought to myself .. it is possible ... but as much as I battled into the headwind down the last mile I couldnt catch him ... still massive PB waiting for the results to be posted for official time. will probably add to this later as Im being hurried by OH at present.
